Pre-Service Scholarship Program
The DOH through the Health Human Resource Development Bureau (HHRDB) pursues the PSSP as a mechanism to ensure the production of needed Human Resources for Health (HRH) in the country. The Program aims to provide scholarships to aspiring midwives and allied health professionals with priority given to deserving students from Indigenous Peoples (IP), those residing in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs), or areas with IP communities, and those who belong to the low-income localities.
Doctors to the Barrios Program
The DTTB program aims to provide equitable health care services to all areas of the country by deploying competent, committed, community-oriented and dedicated physicians to serve the inaccessible barrios of these municipalities for three (3) years. Physicians of the DTTB program are thus trained to be health leaders and managers in developing local health systems in a devolved set-up.
Nurse Deployment Project
The NDP is created as one of the strategies to achieve the overall goal of Universal Health Care or Kalusugang Pangkalahatan which aims to improve health outcomes, provide financial risk protection and provide quality access to health services especially the poor
Human Resource for Health Program
The Human Resource for Health (HRH) Deployment Program has several composite deployment programs and projects which deploy physicians, nurses, dentists, nutritionists, medical technologists, midwives, pharmacists, physical therapists to augment the health workforce in local government and provide experience and training to prepare and motivate the health professional for rural practice, increasing the probability of being absorbed into LGU positions. Ultimately, the equitably distributed and skilled health workforce will redound to better health outcomes and a responsive health system.
Post-Residency Deployment Program
The Department of Health (DOH) through the Health Human Resource Development Bureau implements the Post-Residency Deployment Program as a strategy to complement human resources for health in government hospitals, especially in priority poor areas and those in dire need of specialist services. The program aims to deploy physicians in Level I and II government hospitals after completing residency training at DOH Teaching and Training Hospitals to provide access to specialist care in underserved and unserved areas of the country.
