DOH TO HOST THE 3RD NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON MIGRATION HEALTH RESEARCH

The Department of Health (DOH), through the Migrant Health Unit of the Bureau of International Health Cooperation (BIHC), in coordination with the Philippine Migrant Health Network, will be will be hosting this year’s 3rd National Symposium on Migration Health Research virtually on June 9-10, 2022 at 2:00-5:00PM (Manila Time) with the theme “Advancing Migration Health Research during the COVID-19 Pandemic and Beyond”. This symposium aims to present relevant migration health research during the COVID-19 pandemic; to identify gaps in migration health research and to propose actions to help address these; and to explore opportunities and suggest ways forward to advance migration health research beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.

This National Symposium on Migration Health Research (NSMHR) is conducted biennially and serves as an avenue to share and discuss findings of researches relevant to migration and health in the Philippines. Migration Health Researchers will convene to talk about the status of migration health research during the time of pandemic and what the future holds beyond the pandemic. Several Migration Health Researches done and completed during the COVID-19 pandemic will also be presented in order to take a glimpse on the situation of the migrants to help policy makers address the gaps in migration health that have been uncovered by the pandemic.
