DOH Press Release | 14 March 2024

The Board of Directors of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Chaired by Health Secretary Teodoro J. Herbosa, approved yesterday an increase in the capitation rate of PhilHealth Konsulta to P1,700 per patient seen per year. Private Konsulta package providers (KPPs) will also be allowed to collect a co-payment of up to P900, while patients seen in public KPPs will not be charged extra. The PhilHealth Board also approved the addition of mammography and ultrasound screening services that will help detect breast cancer and other conditions such as abdominal problems earlier.

“President Marcos and Speaker Romualdez want better health benefits for our people. Their marching orders are my instructions to PhilHealth. It is the pleasure of the Board to now bring up primary care benefits with mammogram and ultrasound services not just in sandbox sites, but nationwide,” said Sec. Herbosa.

PhilHealth Konsulta is a primary care benefit package that provides capitation payments for free annual check-ups, selected diagnostics and medicines. The target implementation of increased payments will be by June 2024 or earlier, depending on the completion of operational details such as IT system enhancements. These next steps will now be handled by PhilHealth Management, led by President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel R. Ledesma, Jr.
