The Department of Health (DOH) and all its attached agencies, today join the celebration of National Health Workers’ Day, May 7, 2023. As the primary agency of the health sector in the country, the DOH honors all our healthcare workers serving the people in the name of Universal Health Care.

Toward the fulfillment of the National Human Resources for Health Master Plan as the strategy for the Human Resources for Health (HRH) management and development in the country, the Department ensures that the health workforce welfare, protection, and development are covered.

The DOH commits that it will continuously exert all efforts in disbursing the benefits and allowances of healthcare workers in both the public and private sectors, providing scholarships and other professional opportunities, and pushing for the standardization of salaries and benefits all geared towards ensuring that our HCWs are provided with healthier settings in terms of their communities and workplaces.

“Our healthcare workers, our modern heroes,  really did step up when the pandemic struck the whole world. And to that, we can fully attest that all their efforts and sacrifices are not forsaken as we are now marching towards the new normal as the global public health emergency has been lifted. Malugod po kaming nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng inyong serbisyo – higit lalo sa paghahatid ninyo ng kalinga sa ating mga mamamayan. You, our healthcare workers, are the backbone of our health systems, and rest assured, that your Department of Health will continue to provide you with all the support for the betterment of your welfare and service. Sa lahat ng uri, klase, at mukha ng manggagawa sa larangan ng kalusugan, maraming salamat po at mabuhay kayong lahat!” said Health Secretary Officer-in-Charge Dr. Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire.
