SOH SPEARHEADS COORDINATION MEETING WITH LAGUNA COVID TASK FORCE

The COVID-19 Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE) team headed by Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque III facilitated the Laguna Task Force against COVID-19 coordination meeting today at Hotel Marciano, Barangay Real in Calamba City, Laguna. 
 
The meeting was also attended by NTF officials Defense Secretary Eduardo Año, National Action Plan Against COVID-19 Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr., and COVID-19 Czars Secretary Vince Dizon and Health Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega.  
 
Governor Ramil Hernandez shared with the CODE team how Laguna responds to COVID-19 cases in the area. The team thereafter provided insights on how the province could further ramp up their efforts in mitigating localized transmission and expanding their testing capacity. 
 
As of August 4, 2020, Laguna has 2,728 active cases. Of which 2,707 are mild, 8 are asymptomatic, 4 are severe, and 9 are critical. Laguna also has the most number of cumulative cases in Region IVA with a total of 4,411 confirmed cases, followed by Cavite that has 3,561cases to date. Laguna has four (4) accredited RT-PCR hospitals San Pablo City Colleges Medical Center, Qualimed Hospital Sta. Rosa, Laguna Provincial Hospital - San Pablo District Hospital, and UPLB - COVID-19 Molecular Laboratory, Los Banos. 
 
“We are here to support you in any way possible. This isn’t a war fought by the national government or the local government alone. Everyone has a role to play. We implore everyone to BIDA Solusyon and strictly observe our minimum health standards. This will save you and your loved ones from going to the hospital,” said the Health Chief emphasizing how wearing offace masks, maintaining physical distance and frequent hand washing could effectively decrease the risk of infection.
