The Department of Health today recognizes Adolescent-Friendly Health Facilities (AFHFs) across the country. This was initiated to acknowledge the invaluable contribution of the Local Government Units (LGUs) that established Level III AFHFs.

An AFHF is a health facility that provides equitable, accessible, acceptable, appropriate, effective, and quality comprehensive health care and services in an adolescent-friendly environment.

At present, we have a total of 704 adolescent-friendly health facilities –617 Level I, 52 Level II, and 35 Level III. The DOH is targeting at least 20% increase in AFHFs per year. In recognition of their efforts, each of the 35 health facilities were given a trophy, insignia, and cash award amounting to 100,000 pesos.

“We want to foster healthy living environments for all.  Realizing our vision of a healthier nation depends on having healthier, well-informed, empowered, and responsible adolescents,” the Health Chief stressed.
