About Health Policy Development and Planning Bureau
The Health Policy Development and Planning Bureau advises and enables health policymakers and program managers in the development and implementation of evidence-based policies and plans towards a productive, resilient, equitable, people-centered health system to achieve Universal Health Care.
In line with these objectives, the HPDPB:
- Develops the health sector policy, legislative and research agenda and the national plans, goals and objectives for health
- Coordinates and provides the mechanisms for institutionalizing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the health sector policy, legislative and research agenda and the national health plans, goals and objectives for health.
- Provides technical assistance, consulting and advisory services relative to health policy development, legislation, planning, performance monitoring, strategy management, and research.
- Advises the Secretary of Health on matters pertaining to national health policies and legislation, national health plans and objectives, health research and development, sectoral and organizational strategy.

HPDPB Component Divisions
The HPDPB is composed of five divisions namely Health Research Division, Health Policy Division, Legislative Liaison Division, Health Planning Division and Performance Monitoring and Strategy Management Division. The Office of the Director has two subunits: The Single Joint Ethics Research Board (SJREB) Secretariat and the Administrative Unit.
