(27 January 2020) - The Department of Health (DOH), through the Migrant Health Unit (MHU) lodged at the Bureau of International Health Cooperation (BIHC), organized the 8th Philippine Migrant Health Network (PMHN) Meeting last 22 January 2020 at Hotel Jen, Pasay City. Since 2013, the PMHN has worked hand in hand with different partners and organizations for the promotion and protection of the health of our Overseas Filipinos, migrants, and their families left behind.
More than fifty (50) participants from the different offices and bureaus of the DOH, and other government agencies, academe, private sector, development partners, civil society and non-government organizations attended the said bi-annual activity.
Through small group discussions and plenary sessions of the four (4) Technical Working Group (TWG) of the PMHN, namely, Health Promotion and Service Delivery (HePSeD), Policy Advocacy and Research (PAR), Financing and Resource Mobilization (FARM), and Regulations, Information Management and Monitoring (RIMM), activities and commitments accomplished during the past year were reviewed. From this, future undertakings for the coming year (CY 2020) were prioritized, plotted, and planned based on the Network’s objectives and key result areas.
Dr. Mar Wynn D. Bello, Head of the PMHN Secretariat and OIC – Director IV of the DOH – BIHC, expressed his gratitude to each Network member for their continuous support on the work for the betterment of the health of our migrants and Overseas Filipinos. With their assistance and guidance, reaching and targeting change to the said population were easily facilitated and coordinated.
