Bureau of International Health Cooperation Participates in the Ceremonial Turnover of the Donations of the Republic of Korea (ROK) under the ASEAN-ROK Assistance Fund

(25 November 2020) — The Bureau of International Health Cooperation assisted Undersecretary Ma. Carolina Vidal-Taiño of the Procurement and Supply Chain Management Team as she attended the turnover of the ROK donation, including one RT-PCR machine and DNA extractor, RT-PCR kits capable of 17,664 tests (including 17,664 universal transport medium and 5,664 nucleic acid extractor kits), and 300 sets of personal protective equipment (PPEs), including protective suits, nitrile gloves, face shields and goggles. The donation under the ASEAN-ROK fund is part of assistance to ASEAN Member States under the ASEAN-ROK Project “Enhancing the Detection Capacity of ASEAN Member States”.

During the ceremony, the Embassy of the ROK, led by outgoing Ambassador His Excellency Han Dong-man turned over the donation to Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. of the Department of Foreign Affairs. Also present were National Task Force Spokesperson Major General Restituto Padilla, Jr., DFA Executive Director for Asian and Pacific Affairs Josel F. Ignacio, DFA Assistant Secretary for ASEAN Affairs Junever M. Mahilum-West, Deputy Administrator of the Office of Civil Defense Assistant Secretary Hernando Craig, Jr., and Minister Counsellor Sun-young Kim, and First Secretary Seah Park of the Embassy of the ROK.
