(22 October 2020) — A ceremonial turnover ceremony of 150 HFNC or oxygen therapy/humidifier equipment and 300 sets of nasal cannulas and heating tubes was held at the Kalayaan Hall of Malacañang last 21 October 2020 at 10:30AM. The equipment and supplies were donated by the PRC to the government of the Philippines.
The donations were received by Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea from His Excellenct Huang Xilian of the Embassy of the PRC. Also present during the turnover were Director Maria Soledad Q. Antonio of the Department of Health-Bureau of International Health Cooperation (DOH-BIHC), Assistant Secretary Meynardo LB. Montealegre and Mr. Emilio O. Lopue, Jr. of the Department of Foreign Affairs, and Undersecretary Robert Eric A. Borje of the Office of the Chief of Presidential Protocol. The Ambassador of the PRC was accompanied by Mr. Tan Qingsheng, Deputy Chief of Mission and Ms. Chen Can, Third Secretary from the Political Division. In a brief meeting after the turnover, the Chinese side expressed support to the Philippines and emphasized the need for heightened cooperation in vaccine development and manufacturing, and supply chain connectivity, among others.
